District 2

District 2 is at the heart of the Island, and provides a ‘transport hub’.

It is where the Island Roads main office, depot and Visitor Centre is based, and we look forward to welcoming people with an interest in the highways maintenance service and improvements to local roads, footways and cycleways.

District 2 is centred on Newport, and covers the electoral divisions of: Carisbrooke, Newport Central, Newport North, Newport South, Newport West, Parkhurst and Newport Parish Council. It covers key public services such as the main office for the Isle of Wight Council and St Mary’s Hospital and tourist attractions such as Carisbrooke Castle.

Island Roads teams are aware of the significance of Medina Way and Coppins Bridge, providing a key strategic link for many of the Island’s roads and will plan and coordinate our works to ensure that potential disruption, particularly during key events such as the Isle of Wight Festival, is managed effectively.
